Ashley Clarke, DO
Ashley Clarke is the curatorial director at the Criterion Collection. Previously, he was the director of film programming at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He has curated film series at venues including BFI Southbank, the Museum of Modern Art, TIFF Bell Lightbox, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. He is also a frequent guest critic on radio and TV shows, and has lectured on the history of independent British and American cinema. His writing has appeared in publications including the New York Times, Vulture, 4Columns, The Guardian, and Sight and Sound. He is the author of Facing Blackness: Media and Minstrelsy in Spike Lee’s Bamboozled (2015).
He is a graduate of the University of Sussex with a B.A. Hons degree (First Class) in Film Studies and American History.
